Name: Mrs. Gretchen A. Sharp 

Position: Executive Director of the South Dakota FFA Foundation, Inc.  I fill many roles for the Foundation including raising funds for activities, events and scholarships for the SD FFA; promotion and marketing of the FFA and Foundation; financial records management; creating and maintaining the Foundation database and website and finding new and exciting ways to encourage, empower and enable SD FFA members and chapters to succeed on the local, state and national levels.

Experience: SD FFA Foundation Director since August 2001.  From 1996 to 2001 I worked for RAND, a national research and development firm, facilitating several survey research projects in area schools evaluating drug and alcohol prevention programs.  I graduated from SDSU with a BS in Animal Science in 1994, and with a MS in Animal Science/ Ruminant Nutrition in 1996.

Husband: Brian Sharp

Children: Daniel and Travis

Other activities: Along with my husband’s family, we own and operate a dairy and farming operation near Aberdeen.  I started my own business, GLAS Consulting, through which I create, host and/or maintain websites for several businesses and organizations.  I also work part time as office manager at a local clothing and gift boutique.  I am an active member of First United Methodist Church, the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee and play French Horn in the Aberdeen Municipal Band.  I am proud to be a Ceres Women's Fraternity Alumni member.  I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, playing my French Horn, traveling and working on the computer.

Hometown: Carrington, ND

FFA background: My SAE included raising a few sheep and working at the NDSU Crop Research Station in Carrington.  In North Dakota I participated in Creed, Prepared and Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Parliamentary Procedure, Horse Judging, Livestock Judging, Farm Business Management and FFA Quiz Team.  After coming to college at SDSU, I served as SD FFA Sentinel in 1991-92
