2009-10 SD FFA President, Brady Duxbury

Brady Duxbury is currently serving as the 2009-2010 South Dakota State FFA President. He is the son of Dale and Sandy Duxbury and is the oldest of three children. He is now 19 years old and has graduated from the Wessington Springs High School. Brady will be a sophomore as South Dakota State University and will be majoring in Range Science with minors in Animal Science and Ag Business. During his years as an FFA member, Brady participated in several Career Development Events including: Land Judging, Range Judging, Creed Speaking, Job Interview, Prepared Public Speaking, Fall Sales, Spring Sales, Livestock Judging, and Ag Business Management. For his SAE project Brady manages his cow/calf operation in an attempt to produce show quality club calves, he also recorded placement hours at his father’s ranch.

2009-10 SD FFA Treasurer, Rebecca Naasz

Rebecca Naasz is serving as the 2009 - 2010 South Dakota State FFA Treasurer. This 17 year old is from Platte and plans on attending SDSU in the fall to major in Microbiology. Throughout high school Rebecca has participated in many CDE’s including: Extemporaneous speaking, Ag Broadcasting, Parliamentary Procedure, Prepared Public Speaking, Job Interview, Horse Judging, Livestock Judging, Floriculture, and Ag Business Management. Rebecca’s SAE consists of placement on TSN Simmentals, her parents ranch. Here she helps with the production of Sim/Angus cattle, and home improvement projects such as fixing fence and maintaining the area around farm buildings.

 

 

2009-10 SD FFA Vice President, Caitlin Johnson

Caitlin Johnson is currently serving as the 2009-2010 South Dakota State Vice-President. She is the daughter of Brian and Judy Carlson and Phil Johnson. Caitlin also has a sister and two brothers. This 18-year-old is from Badger, South Dakota and is a graduate of Arlington High School. During her high school FFA career, she participated in various Career Development Events, including: Land Judging, Marketing Plan, Public Speaking, Job Interview, Floriculture, and Agricultural Sales in which she placed 4th individually at State Convention in 2009. Caitlin's SAE projects consisted of raising market lambs her freshman and sophomore years, and then switching gears her junior and senior years to raise numerous varieties of plants and documenting their growth. She plans on taking classes through Lake Area Technical Institute this fall and majoring in Agri-Business.

2009-10 SD FFA Reporter, Chelsey Abler

Chelsey Abler is currently serving as the 2009-2010 South Dakota State FFA Reporter.  She is the daughter of Richard and Shari Abler and is the oldest of four children.  This 19 year old is a graduate of Hoven High School and is currently attending South Dakota State University to major in Journalism with a minor in Leadership.  During her years in FFA, Chelsey competed in numerous Career Development Events including; Junior Parliamentary Procedure, Creed Speaking, Job Interview, Dairy Foods, and Land Judging.   For her SAE, she has recorded many placement hours on Abler Farms where she works for her father, mother, and grandfather.

 

 

 

2009-10 SD FFA Secretary, Jacob Englin

Jacob Englin is serving as the 2009-2010 State FFA Secretary. This 18 year old from Bruce, South Dakota is a graduate of Deubrook Area Schools. Jacob is the son of Keith and Tamera Englin. He also has two sisters and one brother. Throughout high school, Jacob participated in many different Career Development Events including:  Ag broadcasting/Journalism, Job Interview, Dairy Cattle Evaluation, Livestock Evaluation, Horse Evaluation, and Land Judging. He was even a member of the 1st place team in Dairy Cattle Evaluation in 2009. For his SAE project, Jacob invested many placement hours at Syngenta Seeds, Inc., where he assisted with both corn and soybean research.  He plans on attending South Dakota State University in the fall with a major in Agricultural Education.

 

 

2009-10 SD FFA Sentinel, Trent Thompson

Trent Thompson is the 2009-2010 SD FFA State Sentinel. He is the 19 year old son of Gregg and Robin Thompson of Harrisburg, SD and also the second youngest of four. He is a sophomore at SDSU is majoring in Animal Science and a minor in Agricultural Marketing. Throughout FFA Trent was involved in Parliamentary Procedure, Agricultural Issues, Land Judging, Meats Evaluation, and Livestock Evaluation. All of these CDE’s were put to use in his SAE projects which consisted of working for Monsanto where he helped manage fields for research, worked on his families’ farm having managing a herd of purebred Hampshire sows and having chickens and rabbits.

2009-10 SD FFA Student Ambassador, Kari Rogers

Kari Rogers is serving as a 2009 – 2010 South Dakota State FFA Student Ambassador. She is the daughter of Matt and Penny Rogers and the younger of two children. She is 17 years old and a graduate of Gettysburg High School. She is attending Black Hills State University to major in Pre-Optometry/Chemistry with a minor in Biology. Throughout FFA she has been involved in many different CDE’s including Parliamentary Procedure, Floriculture, Ag Mechanics, Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Ag Issues, Ag Management, Creed Speaking, Range judging, and Land judging. For her SAE, she raised and showed poultry and also worked many hours on the family farm.

 

2009-10 SD FFA Student Ambassador, Kaitlin Jacobi

Kaitlin Jacobi is currently serving as one of the 2009-2010 South Dakota State FFA Ambassadors. She is the daughter of Randy and Darla Jacobi. Kaitlin has a twin sister, an older sister and a younger brother. This 19-year-old girl is from Buffalo, South Dakota and graduated from Harding County High School. Throughout high school FFA career Kaitlin has participated in CDE’s including: Job Interview, Livestock Judging and Land Judging. Her plans this fall include attending National American University in Rapid City, South Dakota and majoring in Veterinarian Technology.
